The Anjarle Turtle Festival is a unique eco-tourism event held every year in the peaceful coastal village of Anjarle in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. This festival is dedicated to the conservation of endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles and promotes responsible tourism and community participation.
The festival usually takes place between February and April, during the turtle hatching season. Visitors get a rare opportunity to witness newly hatched turtle babies emerging from their nests and moving towards the sea. These sessions are conducted in the early morning and evening under the supervision of trained volunteers to ensure the safety of the turtles.
